JRC MARS Bulletin - Global outlook - Crop monitoring European neighbourhood - Kazakhstan, October 2023
Low yields, low grain quality
Dry and hot weather conditions during the summer compromised the growth and yield formation of winter and spring cereals in Kazakhstan, resulting in a below-average yield outlook. In August and September, frequent and abundant rainfall hampered the harvest of spring cereals in northern and eastern regions, thus further reducing harvestable yield and severely diminishing grain quality. The yield outlook for maize is close to the 5-year average.
